6/1 Dora Lake

News from Dawn Simula:

Erik managed to get a message to me yesterday.  He made what we call “safe camp”  at Dora Lake which is north of Winnibigoshish. (He is a traveling man!) It was raining pretty steady so he took a layover day.

Dawn reports that phone service has been very spotty, so Erik will probably be out of the range of service soon. It could be awhile before we get more news.

  1. I’d heard that Erik had been seen downstream from Dora Lake on Sunday, May 31 at route 1 crossing of the Bigfork. I camped at American Falls the night of June 1, looked for him that night, the next morning, and at 6 road crossings of Bigfork down to Big Falls the morning of June 2. No one had seen him. I then had to leave to go to my place near Grand Portage.

Later I saw that Dawn wrote that he was camping at Dora Lake May 31, so the person in a bark canoe seen some miles downstream at the route 1 crossing of Bigfork on May 31 must not have been Erik. Sorry I missed seeing him on the Bigfork, but I wish him luck on his descent of that great river.

  2. Stay safe Erik. So glad Bearskin is able to make the posts from your journal
